Apple iPhone 13 to come with 120Hz LTPO OLED displays supplied by Samsung: Report

Apple begins testing iPhone 15 with USB-C charging port

Samsung Display is a major display panel maker in South Korea. Last year, Samsung introduced 120 Hz refresh displays along with three Galaxy S20 series models including S20 FE. Additionally, the company has released the Galaxy Note 20 lineup, its top variant only has a 120 Hz panel for delicate animations.

On the other hand, Samsung’s primary competitor – Apple has released its new iPhone line – the iPhone 12, which includes four handsets. However, the company did not implement high refresh rate screens due to battery drainage issues.

According to the latest information, it seems that the US tech giant has decided to accept LTPO LEDs for its upcoming iPhone 13 series with a high refresh rate.

The report suggests that the company plans to use LTPO TFT LED panels for high-end models in the iPhone series to be released later this year. Samsung Display offers panels specifically for the iPhone 13 series.

In addition, the Korean tech giant will upgrade its OLED panel manufacturing unit to meet Apple’s needs and will start distributing displays later this year. Last year, Samsung Display reportedly bought 30,000 Gen 6 substrates per month for LTPO TFT LED panels in its exclusive product line.
