If you want to fix the battery drain and missing GPS issue on iPhone and Apple Watch, just restore them: Apple Support

If you are facing problems after updating to the iOS 14 and watchOS 7 with your iPhone and Apple Watch, Apple comes with a solution (seriously!) for you.

As per the complaints, in some cases, the GPS data was not being recorded properly during the workout. All models of Apple Watches are facing this issue. In addition, some iOS 14 and watchOS 7 users have been facing excess battery drain.

Apple says you need to unpair your Apple Watch from iPhone, take back up of your ‌iPhone‌ and Apple Watch, erase all data of both devices, and restoring from backup. You can check the steps below.

Well, according to the official Apple Support website, you need to follow the solution only if you experience two or more of the below issues.

  • Your workout route maps are missing in the Fitness app on iPhone for previous GPS-enabled workouts from your Apple Watch.
  • The Activity, Heart Rate, or other health-related apps fail to launch or load data on your Apple Watch.
  • The Fitness app or Health app fail to launch or load data on your iPhone.
  • The Health app or Fitness app is reporting an inaccurate amount of data storage on your iPhone.
  • The Activity app is reporting an inaccurate amount of data storage on your Apple Watch.
  • Your environmental sound levels data or headphone audio levels data from Apple Watch is missing in the Health app on iPhone.
  • Increased battery drain on your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Solution:

Unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone:

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap All Watches.
  3. Tap the info button next to the watch you want to unpair.
  4. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.​

Before erasing all content and settings on your Apple Watch, your iPhone creates a new backup of your Apple Watch. You can use the backup to restore your Apple Watch.

Erase all content and settings from your iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap General, then tap Reset.
  3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

Restore your iPhone and Apple Watch from backup:

  1. Turn on your iPhone and restore it from your iCloud backup.
  2. Once restored, open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  3. Tap Start Pairing and wait for the pairing to complete.
  4. Tap Restore from Backup and choose the most recent backup to restore
