Apple announces the “Click to Pay” feature for these iPhone devices

During WWDC22, Apple announced that it will implement “click to pay” on the iPhone in June, allowing small merchants and independent sellers in the United States to use their iPhones as a payment terminal.

The feature, originally announced in February, allows compatible iPhones to accept payments via Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets, all with just an “iPhone.”

The iPhone XS or newer will support Tap to Pay on the iPhone and will serve customers like any normal Apple Pay transaction. Tap to Pay on iPhone uses NFC technology to securely authenticate and complete purchases.

Apple is working with a number of partners to implement “click to pay” on the iPhone, including Square, Stripe, GoDaddy, Chase, and more. Apple first began testing the feature last month at the Apple Park visitor center and has since rolled it out at Apple Stores.
