Apple iOS 17 and macOS 14 are the latest software updates that add passkey support for the Apple ID. Eventually, this addition will let iPhone and Mac device holders sign into their Apple ID with a Face or Touch lock rather than spending their time entering the password.
For your information, Passkeys are more secure and efficient than the old-aged password scenarios. On the other hand, one can easily use them for various sign-in pages on Apple devices.
That’s not it. The Passkey support for Apple ID in iOS 17 and macOS 14 is compatible with third-party applications and websites as well. Here is what the American tech giant said about the useful element:

“A passkey is a cryptographic entity that’s not visible to you, and it’s used in place of a password. A passkey consists of a key pair, which – compared to a password – profoundly improves security. One key is public, registered with the website or app you’re using. The other key is private, held only by your devices.”

Those consumers who are running beta versions of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS 14 can test this dynamic capability on supported Apple sign-in pages. Notably, the feature is not available for every user at the moment. But we can expect this change with the official software release.
