Recently, the D3 Publisher announced that Earth Defense Force 2 & 3, a game about the confrontation of the Earth Defense Forces against alien invaders, will be released for the Nintendo Switch this year.
The Eartyh Defense Force series of games are third-person shooters. The player will have to join the ranks of the Earth Defense Forces and repel the alien invasion. The opponents are numerous types of insects, robots, and spaceships.

Porting to Switch will be based on the EDF remake, which was previously released for the PlayStation Vita “Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space”. Multiplayer support for up to 4 people is promised.
Series producer Nobuyuki Okajima regrets not being able to reissue the first part. The development team cites technical difficulties. The first game in the EDF series was released in Japan in 2003 for the PlayStation 2. It was published in Europe as “Monster Attack”.
D3 Publisher has announced that Earth Defense Force 2 will launch on the Nintendo Switch on July 15, 2021. Earth Defense Force 3 will also hit the console in fall 2021. At the moment, D3 Publisher is working on a continuation of the series – EDF 6.
