Google Drive getting Android 12 new “Suggested files” Material You widget

Back in October, Google officially launched Android 12, the twelfth generation of Android. It brings major changes to the user interface along with many new features and new customization options, the most notable of which is the Material You design as it brings amazing theme options to the users.

The company already released Material You updates for several apps in the last few months. Now, according to the latest information, the company is launching the Android 12 Material You widget for Google Drive, allowing users to quickly access “Suggested files and searches”.

The new update for Google Drive comes with version 2.21.417.3.90 and is now available. It adds a circular x-shaped “Drive Quick Actions” home screen object, starting with the initial Material You update with the application.

About New “Suggested Files” widget

The “Suggested Files” widget includes a query field that instantly opens the application and keyboard to the “Search in Drive” UI. Next to it, you will find an upload button to open the system file selector. There is a list of about five documents that you edited recently, and “open at this time often”.

Moreover, the widget can cross the entire screen, where the bottom list does not need to be scrolled or reduced to 3×2, and the search text prompt will adjust itself accordingly.

While resizing, you can also click the pencil FAB in the lower right corner to change your Google account. Dynamic colors are used to set themes for the background of each component.
