OnePlus phone users might be happy to know that the flagship members of the family will enjoy 4 years of Android OS and 5 years of security updates. But boom! Google has played a dynamic move, promising 7 OS updates for the Pixel 8 series and it’s time OnePlus should opt for the same.
Yes! The US manufacturer is replicating Apple’s rock-solid 7 OS updates policy for the Google Pixel 8 series and we hope that even OnePlus should join this race. After all, the company is pacing ahead in launching the Android 14-based custom skin on the global platform.
On the flip side, we have noticed that in recent times, the Chinese tech giant has served both security as well as closed beta rollouts on time to its eligible devices. Thus, it won’t be a bad idea if OnePlus plans to offer an increase in the number of software updates for its smartphones.
Moreover, this strategy could help OnePlus to regain its position in the smartphone market with, of course, timely software rollouts and better improvements.
It is worth mentioning that Google currently serves three major OS and five years of security patches to Pixel devices. Yes, OnePlus is ahead of this for its top-end models, but the new revealing of 7 OS updates for the Pixel 8 series is a game changer.
And who knows, the Android maker could expand this strategy to other members of the smartphone family. In that case, it won’t be wrong if OnePlus starts following this suit! What do you think about this matter? Let us in the comment section or participate in the poll below.
