As per the official announcement, OnePlus has stepped up from 2 major Android upgrades and 3 years of security updates for its latest flagships to 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
However, OnePlus’ mid-range Nord series is still subject to the standard 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates, so this rollout plan only applies to flagship phones.
These OnePlus devices will get three major Android updates and four years of security patches
Three OS updates/4 years of security updates:
- OnePlus 10 Pro
- OnePlus 10R
- OnePlus 9 Pro
- OnePlus 9
- OnePlus 9R
- OnePlus 8 Pro
- OnePlus 8
- OnePlus 8T
Two OS updates/3 years of security updates:
- OnePlus 7 Pro
- OnePlus 7
- OnePlus 7T
- OnePlus Nord
- OnePlus Nord CE
One OS update/3 years of security updates:
- OnePlus N100
- OnePlus N10 5G
- OnePlus N200 5G
OxygenOS remains the operating system for global OnePlus users as usual but is now built on a more stable and more powerful platform. While this will be applicable to new devices in the future, it will be through an OTA update with Android 12 for existing devices that are still under maintenance schedule.
On the other hand, the OnePlus flagship devices released before the OnePlus 8 series will follow the previous schedule of 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates. Software update plans for carrier versions will follow the requirements of our carrier partners.
