LaLiga restates its support for other sports at a round table with great Olympic figures

LaLiga is much more than football, for a long time, LaLiga has been involved in the growth, progression, and recognition of other sports in different ways, through sponsorships of great athletes, putting technology such as LaLigaSportsTV, the OTT of LaLiga in which it occurs.

At the service of the different federations dissemination to more than 30 sports modalities or with an economic contribution derived from audiovisual rights that amount to more than 42 million euros this season and which are transmitted through the CSD (of which 25.5 M € are destined to the development of other sports and federations and € 17M to the social security contribution of high-level athletes and aid for those who participate in international competitions).

In this context, now there was a round table entitled ‘LaLiga and the Olympic sport‘ in which LaLiga’s relationship with other sports, its involvement with athletes, and, in addition, the current sports news has been assessed in the face of the Tokyo Olympics.

The event was attended by Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, and great Spanish athletes: the three-time world champion, four-time European champion, and Olympic gold medalist, Carolina Marin and her coach Fernando Rivas. The also three times world triathlon champion, Mario Mola; the canoeist Maialen Chourraut, who has Olympic gold and bronze, as well as a world runner-up and a European championship; the karateka Sandra Sanchez, world champion, number 1 in the World Ranking for the last 5 years and 5 times European champion; and Damián Quintero, world champion karateka and 10 times European champion.

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, highlighted: “LaLiga is much more than football and we are proud to support sport in general, in all its forms. We have been doing it for a long time and this year, through the Pacts of Viana, we have reached the commitment that this support will be much greater. We trust that these athletes will continue to shine and enhance the image of Spain outside our borders as they have done so far ”.

The athletes, in addition to highlighting the involvement of LaLiga with their sport, have analyzed their respective medal options in the next Olympic Games.

For her part, Sandra Sanchez, a karateka who will compete for the first time in the Olympic Games -being the first year in which this modality will be part of the Olympic Games- has highlighted what it feels like before a meeting of these dimensions: the stomach, because there is a lot of work behind it, especially after this year that we have passed ”. In the same situation is Damián Quintero: “We have trained very hard to get here, overcoming the vicissitudes. It is a debut for us and we are going to enjoy it very much, to experience our Olympic games and to fight for the gold ”.

Maialen Chourraut has also been very optimistic in the face of international competition: “I am very keen to compete as well as possible and do my best. I have already been able to do four competitions and in all of them I have felt very well, so we are going to trust, doing a good job and with a good competition everything is possible ”.

Finally, the triathlete champion Mario Mola has affirmed that he feels very positive about the Games: “I feel very well and working as well as possible with a view to the Olympic Games. I hope to be in the fight for the medals, that is my goal ”.

An exceptional Olympic team, which has shown itself to be aligned on the importance of arriving at the Games calm, with positive energy and the coolest mind possible, to try to escape from the external pressure that comes through different routes.
