UMC’s chip shipment volume in the first quarter increased by 10.4%: Report

Judging from UMC’s financial report, their wafer shipments and average prices in the first quarter have increased, and wafer shipments have increased significantly year-on-year.

UMC disclosed in its financial report that their wafer shipments in the first quarter were equivalent to 2.372 million 8-inch wafers, an increase of 224,000 from the 2.148 million in the same period of the previous year, an increase of 10.4% year-on-year.

In the fourth quarter of last year, UMC’s shipments were equivalent to 2.293 million 8-inch wafers, compared to 2.372 million in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 79,000, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year.

In the financial report, UMC also predicts that their wafer shipments in the next quarter will increase by about 2% year-on-year, which is equivalent to 2.419 million 8-inch wafers.
