Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, a midrange chip built on a 4nm process. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 features on-device AI capabilities similar to the 8 Gen 3, bringing enhanced image and video capture. The GPU performance is 50% faster compared to the first 7-series chip, while AI performance is 60% better.
According to Qualcomm, the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 brings features like AI-based activity tracking, multi-language translation, and more. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 also supports spatial audio with head tracking, as well as multi-device Snapdragon Seamless experiences.
As for the camera part, the company mentions the Google Ultra HDR image format on Android 14. Besides, an “AI Remosaic” feature lets you “eliminate grainy discoloration for higher-res results” that have more vivid colors.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is built on a 4nm process with a single prime core clocked at 2.63GHz, three performance cores at 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. Another highlighting feature is its improved AI-based face detection. There’s the Snapdragon X63 5G modem for up to 5 Gbps downloads, as well as 5G Dual-SIM Dual-Active (DSDA) in 5G+5G or 5G+4G SIM card configurations.
Apart from this, the US chip designer is also touting triple frequency location support for improved accuracy even with a lower-quality GNSS antenna.
Honor and Vivo will be among the first Android smartphone makers to launch phones featuring the latest chip.
