Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Russia getting government bounded mandatory software update

Samsung rolls out different kinds of updates for its Galaxy devices which includes security updates, feature update, and major upgrades. While here’s a new kind of update that we don’t encounter very often.

According to the latest information, a new software update is now rolling out for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Note 20 devices which is only available in Russia. The latest firmware also installs the March 2021 security update for improved system security and device stability.

This is a government bounded update that installs some new applications on smartphones that are mandatory for the users to have. Further, it also includes some bug fixes, improved features, and overall performance improvements for a better user interface.

The update will shortly available to all the Note 20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Note 20 handsets in the country, and the users can also check it manually in the device’s Settings and going through Software updates, and then tap on the Download and install option.

Besides this, the company is currently rolling out the latest April 2021 security update which will soon also be available for the Note 20 phones. It is currently rolled out for some devices which include Galaxy S21, the Galaxy Note 10, and Galaxy Z Fold 2. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A21s and the Galaxy A51 have also received this update alongside One UI 3.1.

Changelog:

  • as part of the implementation of the requirements of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1867 of 18.11.2020, the download of mandatory applications has been added;
  • some of these apps will only be installed if the device is reset to factory settings;
  • the update may also include bug fixes, improved features, and additional performance improvements.
