Apple’s “iPad Air 5” could be featured with M1 Chip

Apple is preparing to be geared up with some new lineups and is expected to showcase its upcoming iPad Air 5 with the same M1 chip that was earlier featured in the 2021 iPad Pro. This device is codenamed as J408. We all know that last year’s iPad Pro was the debut device for Apple’s M-Series Chip.

According to the latest information available from 9TO5Mac, Apple is going to introduce its new iPad Air 5 with M1 Chip in a “Peek Performance” event that is going to happen today at 10:00 AM, according to Pacific Standard Time. Adding this new M1 chip to the iPad Air 5 would enhance the performance to the next level along with its current iPad Pro model and 2020 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.

This new M1 chip features an 8-core Central Processing Unit and a 7 to 8 core Graphics Processing Unit, Compared with the A15 chip which has a 6-core CPU and a 5 Core GPU. So we can say M1 will definitely offer better performance as compared to A-Series Chips. In terms of performance, M1 Chip is about 50% faster than the A15 Bionic Chip and 70% more powerful than its predecessor A14 Bionic Chip.

Apple

All the previous rumors suggest that iPad Air would be pretty similar to the iPad mini, which was earlier equipped with the same A15 chip with 5G connectivity. Adding the M1 Chip to iPad Air would make it more expensive, as compared to the top-spec iPad Pro.

The company would be doing this sell both iPad Pro and iPad Air as a computer replacement, that is why it’s not so surprising that they are going to introduce a device with a desktop level chip.

If Apple does not introduce the “ProMotion display technology” and “LiDAR camera”, it would create a major difference between the iPad Air and iPad Pro lineups. Let us see what happens at the Spring event and what’s more coming on the way in the “Peek Performance” Event.
