New Apple support page shows how to turn off the activation lock function

Apple recently added a new page on its website showing how to turn off the activation lock on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. The company here provided the simple tricks to do so. The page has a link to start the activation lock support request in the US.

As per this added page, the users will no longer contact the Apple Support representative for this process. If you are in the United States, there is a new activation lock web tool at the bottom of the landing page with the option “Start activation lock support request”. But to perform this process you must know the conditions:

  • You must be the owner of the device-proof of ownership documents are required. Proof of ownership must include the product serial number, IMEI, or MEID.
  • The data on the device will be deleted-if you agree to unlock the activation lock on your device, all files, and data stored on the device will be permanently erased. Please note that restoring your device from a local backup will re-enable the activation lock.
  • We cannot unlock the managed device-if your device belongs to a business or educational institution, please contact your IT department or manager. We also do not accept bulk requests.
  • Your device cannot be in lost mode.

In countries and regions where there is no new activation lock, you need to bring the proof of purchase to the Apple Store to request help to remove the activation lock, but the device data will be erased in the process. For those who are unaware, the activation is designed to prevent any other users to access your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch if it’s stolen or lost.
