Canon announced the latest news about the EOS R3 flagship mirrorless camera. This product is similar to the previous EOS 1D series, with a vertical handle integrated at the bottom and a larger volume. The camera will surpass the current R5 in terms of focus and video.
Canon’s previous 1D series cameras are designed for sports photography and other purposes, with powerful focusing and continuous shooting systems. In order to meet the needs of sports photography, EOS R3 will support eye-controlled focusing, and the RAW continuous shooting speed can reach up to 30 frames per second, which can reach the frame rate of shooting videos.
This camera will be equipped with a brand-new DIGIC X processor and a brand-new self-developed back-illuminated CMOS sensor to support the coordinated work of body anti-shake and lens anti-shake.
The autofocus system of this camera supports working at a brightness of -7EV, can automatically identify and track cars and motorcycles, and also supports automatic tracking of birds and human bodies.
In terms of appearance, Canon EOS R3 will use a magnesium alloy body, support dust, and water resistance, and use the same LP-E19 battery as the EOS-1D X Mark III camera. The camera will have dual card slots, compatible with SD cards and CFexpress cards.
Canon EOS R3 can record 4K resolution video in a super-sampling manner with a higher definition in terms of video. The camera supports 4K Canon Log 3 recording and RAW video recording. During video shooting, it can also track people, racing cars, or animals for autofocus. In addition, the camera also has a wired network port, supports 5G WiFi, and is equipped with a rotatable LCD screen.
