Google Photos brings Locked Folder backup capability for iOS devices

Google is improving the Locked Folder backup feature for the Photos app and has started rolling it out for iOS devices. At the same time, the feature is also available to a handful of Android users and will appear in a wider rollout in the upcoming days.

To those who are unaware, the Locked Folder backup feature in Google Photos for Android and iOS is capable of hiding photos and video from the main library and other applications. So far, this function has not supported cloud-based backup, and users often end up losing their favorite snaps on changing devices.

However, Google has addressed this problem and made amendments accordingly. Notably, it is an optional feature and users can continue to work offline. Although if you like this capability then it is rolling out gradually and will soon show up on your phone’s app.
