Google Play Store rolling out new auto archive option for everyone

Google is readying some impressive features for the Play Store and one of them is the Auto-Archive option for applications. Eventually, it’s a new way to save storage space on your phone by simply turning on a toggle in the Play Store settings.

Spotted by @MishaalRahman, Google Play Store has started rolling out the Auto-Archive option to every user. As the name reflects, the feature utilizes the Android space and automatically archives applications that you rarely use to free up some area when your storage runs low.

Earlier, the respective option was only accessible when you were already out of storage space. It used to display an alert asking if you want to turn on the feature to save some room in your device. But as of now, you only need to tap on the toggle to access this capability.

The new option manages Android’s app bundle format and allows app developers to push only the necessary files that your phone requires. Notably, this option is also available in Manage apps & devices in the Play Store.

Consequently, the new feature is showing up with versions 37.4 and 37.5. On the flip side, it is also reaching users via server-side updates.
