Ubisoft reveals new chat service system for Ubisoft Connect

After removing the chat service from its game launcher, it can work again to “align with the rest of the Ubisoft Connect experience”, Ubisoft has announced the return of the feature. From today, you will be able to chat with people on Ubisoft Connect (formerly known as Apple and Ubisoft Club) on its desktop app again. At this point, the chat will return to the connected overlap “in the coming weeks”.

Ubisoft believes the new chat service will be faster, more stable, and more reliable, providing a “safer and more friendly environment” for players. If you feel like talking with a jerk or worse, you can block them or file a report.

One consequence of the new system is that established chatter will start it with a “mostly clean slate”, with only a few active group chats maintaining their message history. From now on, group chat will also be limited to 24 players.

Ubisoft claims that this redesigned chat service will “allow you to quickly introduce a new quality of life features, additional anti – toxicity measures and apply to additional platforms beyond PCs in the future”. So this is basically the first step in the new cross-platform chat service, which is compatible with Connect’s support for crossplay.
