Microsoft released Win11 Build 22000.739 (KB5014697) security update

According to the latest report, Microsoft has released the latest Tuesday patch update for Windows 11. This update, labeled KB501469, includes several security improvements.

It also brings more quality improvements to the serving stack to ensure reliable updates. Additionally, this update has known issues related to .NET Framework 3.5, but Microsoft has outlined a workaround.

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, the component that installs Windows Update. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues

For IT administrators

After installing this update, some .NET Framework 3.5 apps may experience issues or fail to open. Affected applications include the use of some optional components in the .NET Framework 3.5, such as Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components.

You can mitigate this problem by re-enabling .NET Framework 3.5 and Windows Communication Foundation in Windows Features. See Control Panel Enable .NET Framework 3.5. Advanced users or IT administrators can do this programmatically by using an elevated command prompt (run as administrator) and running the following command:

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /all

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-HTTP-Activation

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-NonHTTP-Activation

This update will be delivered to users through Windows Update. The user does not need to take any action as the download and installation are automatic.
