Samsung Galaxy S20 getting January 2021 security update in the US

Today, Samsung has started releasing the January 2021 security patch for the One UI 3.0 beta testers of the Galaxy M31 in India. Just after this firmware, the company’s popular Galaxy S9 and S9+ have also started receiving this security update in Germany.

The South Korean tech giant is now expanding the January 2021 security patch and now it is now rolling out for the unlocked Galaxy S20 trio in the US. You can check the build versions below.

  • G981U1UES1CTL5 – Samsung Galaxy S20
  • G986U1UES1CTL5 – Samsung Galaxy S20+
  • G988U1UES1CTL5 – Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

The latest software update for Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra comes with stability improvements and fixes some bugs. Furthermore, it also enhances the system features for increased user experience.

So far, Samsung has not published the security patch details for this month. The company will surely release this month’s security bulletin in the coming days.

After the Galaxy S20, the latest security update will also hit the other flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 20, Note 10, Z Fold  2, and other eligible mid-range devices.

Here’s how to check for the update manually:

  • Open device Settings
  • Scroll down and select Software updates
  • Hit the Download and install button.
