Digital Wellbeing to soon bring cough and snore detection feature to Android devices

Samsung devices One UI 5.1.1 update

Digital Wellbeing is one of the most appreciated features Google brought for Android smartphones. The company is continuously improving it with new features additions and now reports claims that Digital Wellbeing could soon get a cough and snore detection feature.

Google first introduced the Digital Wellbeing feature with Android 9 OS and it has now become an important part of all Android smartphones and tablets. It helps you to get out of your unhealthy smartphone usage routine by restricting endless scrolling on Instagram, TikTok, and other applications.

Now a new information by 9To5Google reports that Google will further improve the usefulness of Digital Wellbeing and expand health tracking more closely as it is working on bringing a cough and snore detection feature to it.

The latest Digital Wellbeing beta update shows that Google has begun to work to add “Cough and snore detection” to the app as part of its Bedtime mode. The feature will reportedly use the microphone of your device to listen to the sounds you make while you sleep and check how much you snote or cough while you are sleeping.

The report further says that Digital Wellbeing will work in conjunction with the existing sleep tracking feature of Google Clock for this. It’s worth mentioning that this application can already track how long you’ve been sleeping using your phone’s gyroscope and ambient light sensor to see if your phone is really motionless all night.

Well, Samsung Galaxy smartwatches already have this feature. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 can help you know how much you snore or cough while you are asleep. Since not everyone has a Galaxy smartwatch, it’s great that the feature is coming to smartphones.
