Twitter reportedly slowing down traffic to several sites and links

Twitter has randomly started slowing down traffic to several sites and links on the social media platform. As a result of snail speed, users are facing problems in accessing links to the New York Times, Facebook, and other news as well as online competitors.

Notably, the action has affected all websites and services that are having free speech absolutist traits. It seems as if Elon Musk has triggered this action on those who are constantly attacking him with words. Users who clicked a link for one of the targeted websites were made to wait about five seconds before seeing the page.

Meanwhile, links to most other sites were unaffected including those to The Washington Post, Fox News, and social media services such as Mastodon and YouTube.

It’s not clear whether the Twitter platform has opted for slowing down traffic activity to specific sites and links or is just a defect. Though we will keep you posted on this matter.
