Apple iPhone 13 may use f/1.5 7P wide angle lens while 48MP camera could come with 2022 iPhones

Apple begins testing iPhone 15 with USB-C charging port

Apple launched the iPhone 12 last year with a bunch of new features and these are the first 5G iPhone from the company. Just recently, the company has also unveiled a new purple color edition of the iPhone 12 as well. Meanwhile, new leaks have been coming for the upcoming iPhone 13.

Ming-Chi Kuo issued a report saying that the latest industry survey showed that the number of coating equipment and mold costs that Apple is currently delivering to Sunny Optical is lower than expected. I believe that Apple and Sunny Optical’s cooperation has slowed down for some time.

The report predicts that Sunny Optical will still start shipping iPhone lenses in the second half of 2021, but the proportion of f/1.5 7P wide-angle lens orders for iPhone 13 in 2021 may be less than 3%.

The report points out that thanks to the iPhone 13, Largan and Yujingguang are expected to have significant HoH (half-year growth rate) growth in the second half of 2021.

Among them, Largan is the main supplier of high-end lenses for iPhone 13. Yujingguang has been a new supplier of telephoto lenses since the iPhone 13. In the past, the proportion of Kantatsu’s telephoto lenses was about 10%, and Yujingguang is expected to obtain a higher proportion of telephoto lens orders (about 20%-30%).

It is reported that Largan and Yujingguang are currently cooperating with Apple to develop AR/MR HMD lenses for the second quarter of 2022 and 48MP high-end lenses for the new iPhone in the second half of 2022.
