While tvOS updates tend to be small compared to other operating system updates, there are some new features in tvOS 16.1. Apple Fitness+ works with the iPhone, doesn’t require an Apple Watch, and supports iCloud Shared Photo Library.

The update adds a more compact Siri interface, allowing users to see the results of their requests in the bottom right corner of the TV screen, rather than in the bottom middle of the display. The new look takes up less space.

There’s also a new option to enable the “Hey Siri” command when using an Apple TV paired with AirPods. This option can be found under SettingsGeneral.

Apple tvOS 16.1 UpdateLike updates to iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1, macOS 13 Ventura, and watchOS 9.1, tvOS 16.1 introduces support for the Matter smart home standard, which will allow smart home products from different companies to interoperate.

Furthermore, tvOS 16.1 introduces a completely redesigned Siri experience, brings a shared photo library to the largest screen in your home, and lets you exercise and meditate with your iPhone via Apple Fitness+.
