Sony Xperia 5 Android 11 update rollout is now underway!

Launched in September 2019, Sony Xperia 5 comes with impressive hardware and software capabilities such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6/128GB memory, pre-installed Android 10, and more.

So far, Sony has begun releasing the Android 11 update for several eligible smartphones and now, the Sony Xperia 5 is joining the party with the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.

Sony Xperia 5 owners can check for the update through the software updates section in devices Settings. The latest firmware can be identified via build version 58.1.A.1.208 and weighs around 1GB. It is worth mentioning that this update is currently rolling out in China and will soon be available in other regions in the coming days.

The Android 11 update brings several new features, improvements, optimizations, and much more for enhanced user experience. Talking about the new features, it adds chat bubbles, notification history, one-time permission, better privacy controls, permission auto-reset, and more.

Back in December 2020, Sony published the Android 11 update rollout plan for its different eligible smartphones. Later on, Sony Xperia 1, Xperia 1 II, and Xperia 5/5 II have started getting this major firmware upgrade via OTA.
